Frequently Asked Questions

  • Generosity is an integral part of a Christian life.

God is the definition and source of generosity, and the more we lean into living a generous life, the deeper our relationship with God becomes.

Jesus himself tells us that it is “better to give than to receive,” and talking about generosity enables us to become more comfortable with its practice.

  • Gifts received through the Steadfast campaign will go into a single fund, which will maximize The Falls Church’s ability to use these funds in pursuit of our full vision and not just one piece (e.g., building repairs).

The gifts committed during this initiative will cover a two-year period and will encompass our regular stewardship giving as well as additional giving.

Gifts will fund our normal operating budget as well as special projects.

  • Knowing what parishioners intend to give helps The Falls Church plan a balanced budget that accounts for both expected income and expenditures.

Commitments (i.e., pledges) help ensure our fiscal responsibility that allows us to make informed decisions and prioritize projects based on available resources.

A commitment is a sign of your intention, not a legal obligation. We understand that circumstances may change; however, by sharing your plans, you help our parish step forward in faith—together and with good stewardship.

  • The Dayspring Fund is a set of investment accounts owned by The Falls Church which were returned to the parish at the end of litigation.

As we have done since returning to this campus, The Falls Church would need to withdraw approximately $300,000 annually, or 20 percent of our operating budget, from the Dayspring Fund to cover our expenses.

Under the Steadfast campaign, our goal is to increase giving to eliminate these withdrawals.

  • Yes, In October 2024, The Falls Church was awarded a $175,000 grant from the National Fund for Sacred Places.

The Falls Church must now match the grant dollar-for-dollar to receive the full grant funds as well as make up the difference between the grant dollars and the total cost of repairs.

  • The Falls Church staff will provide updates during worship services, other church gatherings, and our annual meeting.

The Falls Church vestry discusses the Steadfast campaign monthly, and vestry members are an excellent source for accurate information about Steadfast.

Teams of parishioners are working diligently to manage the Steadfast campaign, and members of these Steadfast committees can provide the most up-to-date information.

The Falls Church Steadfast website will also provide regular updates and progress reports on the Steadfast campaign.
